Reform of Licensing Laws

The Licensing Act, 2003 paves the way for the modernisation of England and Wales’ existing licensing law.

The Act provides a single integrated scheme for licensing premises which sell alcohol, provide entertainment to the public or provide refreshment late at night.

The new licensing regime will be under the control of Local Authorities acting as “Local Licensing Authorities”.

Each Authority must prepare a Licensing Policy Statement after consulting with a range of stakeholders.

Licensing Policy

The policy is available to download in the following formats:

Licensing Policy - Word format 311kb

Licensing Policy - PDF format 295kb
