Activ8-2-16 is an initiative set up in June 2002 by the Leisure, Libraries and Culture Sports Development Team with the aim to increase long term participation in physical activity and sports by raising awareness of exercise and healthy lifestyles to young people and their families. Physical activity can make a positive impact in their life. The scheme has been able to develop further as it is currently funded by Cymorth for a further 3 years.
The scheme aims to make exercise more accessible and affordable to individuals and is open to young people aged 8-16 with 'low risk' medical, emotional or mental health difficulties. The scheme aims to provide the opportunity for any young person who falls into this category to access the scheme if it is believed physical activity can make a positive impact in their life.
