Registered Social Workers - Emergency Duty Team

[CLOSING DATE: Fri, 12 Mar 2010] (Full-time, Part time and Sessional)
The North East Wales Emergency Duty team is the first point of contact for people in crisis who require the intervention and support of Social Services outside of office hours. Social Workers in the EDT enjoy the crisis intervention work and ensuring the best outcome for children or adults until our day time colleagues can take over.

We work closely with other agencies such as the Police, A&E, Ambulance and GP’s and covers all service user groups. We also take referrals directly from service users and carers. The Social Workers in the team cover all areas such as Child Protection, Children in Need, Protection of Vulnerable Adults, Vulnerable Adults in Police custody, people experiencing crisis in their mental health and older people who require services to keep them well and safe.

We require a Social Worker to join an experienced team of Social Workers from various backgrounds. You will need to be enthusiastic, imaginative, and creative in your approach to problem solving. In return you will receive robust support and supervision. It is our intention to ensure that the Social Workers in the team receive training opportunities to develop professional skills to become generic workers.

The North East Wales EDT covers the areas of Flintshire, Wrexham and Denbighshire so there is the opportunity to work with various demography’s and in rural and urban settings. The shift pattern offers flexibility - you will be one of three Social Workers on duty at our busiest times and one of two at the less busy times.
